SERACS Ltd Completes Environmental Survey for Bulolo-Nentindo Road Upgrading Project
SERACS Ltd is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the environmental survey for the Bulolo-Nentindo Road Upgrading Project, marking a significant milestone in the development of this crucial infrastructure project. This accomplishment was made possible by the dedication and hard work of our environmental team, led by Patrick Laura, Environment Team Lead and GIS Specialist. Despite facing challenging weather conditions, including landslips and logistical obstacles, the team successfully completed the survey within a three-week period. Their commitment has generated invaluable data that will inform the next phase of the project.
The environmental survey involved a comprehensive range of assessments, including detailed studies of the local flora and fauna, freshwater testing, and the evaluation of fish species in seven major rivers and wet crossings along the road corridor. These insights are critical for shaping the road’s design and construction, ensuring that potential environmental impacts on both local communities and surrounding ecosystems are minimized or avoided entirely.
In addition to ecological assessments, the team conducted noise monitoring at selected sites along the corridor. This data will be crucial in developing strategies to mitigate noise pollution during the construction phase, minimizing disruption to both the environment and nearby communities.
Once completed, the Bulolo-Nentindo Road will serve as a vital national highway, improving connectivity for underserved communities in Morobe and Gulf Provinces. It will link the Highlands Highway and Lae Port to Port Moresby via the Hiritano Highway, significantly enhancing access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for local communities.
SERACS Ltd thank the DT-Global for entrusting this important project to a locally owned company. Our team has greatly valued the opportunity to work alongside experienced international safeguard specialists, strengthening our ability to deliver high-quality, impactful projects. Together, we are contributing to a more connected and sustainable future for Papua New Guinea.
